Thursday was our full day at the Copper Canyon, and we decided to take a three-hour mule/horseback ride along the rim. My mule was Fernandez, a trusty steed. He was well-mannered, but insisted on being in the lead, even in front of our guides. Cessna pointed out that I, therefore, missed the thrill of ever being behind another horse.

Cessna's horse, on the other hand, had a nasty temperament. He bit every horse or mule in front of him, and kicked any behind him. They say our horses and mules reflect their riders' personalities. Hmmm.

Once the stirrups were adjusted, we were off!

Following the rim, we got farther and farther from the Posada Mirador hotel, but we could always see it, thanks to its bright color.

It's still there, in the upper-left corner.

Yup, still there in the upper-left. Starting to get an idea of the size of this place? Too bad I didn't have a wide-angle lens.

See it, still there in the upper-left? Add another three images to the right of this one, and you'll have an idea of the true panorama.

The rugged rim-riding group.

And Cessna had a good chance to use her Spanish, speaking with the caballeros.

Finally, a mule's-eye view approaching the hotel at the end of the trip.
