Edging Closer. There's been no news on the <esi> web site for the past four weeks, but today Akamai (founder of <esi>) issued a press release that seven systems integrators had "adopted" the Edge-Side Include (ESI) technology.
While I think this is great news, and I'd like to see the wider acceptance and use of ESI, this announcement is disappointing. First, none of the adopters are major SIs. They're all little guys. Second (and I can say this from first-hand experience) announcements like this mean relatively little, particularly in tough economic times when everyone is looking for any excuse to gain some attention. Instead, we should all look for the SIs' clients to use ESI in their content delivery solutions. That will be a far more significant announcement.

Exodus Exodus Continues. As if having three members of the board of directors resign wasn't enough, today Exodus' CEO Ellen Hancock did the same. Sounds like an involuntaty resignation to me. Ellen's support on the board probably walked out the door when directors Mark Dubovoy, Thadeus Mocarski and Naomi Seligman quit two weeks ago. Bill Krause, who has been on the Exodus board for a little over a year, will take the helm from Hancock. [Source: CNet]
